Solid Asian funk fusion with a heavy dose of Korean influence. Sakaya Kitchen has a cool menu, great vibe, real people working the line and cranking out really interesting, incredibly delicious food. Heard old school Sonic Youth playing while Chef/owner Richard Hales, decked in ink and a graduate of the French Culinary Institute, was making things happen behind the giant stainless steel counter that runs the length of the restaurant and separates the dining room from the open kitchen. Bulgogi wraps, spicy chicken wings, honey orange ribs, pork buns and peking duck buns were just some of what was taking down on our visit. Cool that Sakaya insists on using natural meat, poultry, and seafoods, along with organic dairy and produce, some of which comes from local farms.
Their mission could not ring truer - "NO Frills just good f'n Food"
It is what it is and I'm damn glad they are doing their thing in Miami.
